Mr. Prather at 5 Stratford was sent a violation letter on January 21, 2009 for running a business in a residential district. Mr. Prather was given until February 23, 2009 to abate the problem. 

I was contacted by Mr. Prather's attorney on February 23, 2009 and we resolved the problem. Mr. Prather is no longer allowed to have transient traffic to his home. All contact with clients is to be held at an offsite location.

The City of Grosse Pointe sent Kenneth E. Prather, Sr. a cease and desist letter in January 2009. The city does not want Ken seeing clients or running a family law business from his basement on 5 Stratford Place. Seems the neighbors didn't take to kindly to all the traffic. A month later, Ken's attorney, called the city back. A month! The result is the good folks of Grosse Pointe won't have to see divorce clients circling the neighborhood looking for parking.  Thank you, city government. 

According to the Michigan State Police, Kenneth E. Prather, Sr.  lives and works just 1.4 miles from two of Grosse Pointe's registered sex offenders.  If you swing by Ken's basement office with your child to discuss a family law issue, a registered sex offender is close by.  Another registered sex offender lives just 3.8 miles from Mr. Prather.   Here is the link to some of Mr. Prather's www.pratherfamilylaw.comneighbors.  Enter Ken's zip code, 48230, to see his neighbors.

 Ken Prather (www.pratherfamilylaw.com) gives advice on asset protection in family law cases.  Asset protection is actually on his site as one of his specialties.  When Ken was faced with the heat...he says through his attorneys that he will close his law practice and file for bankruptcy.  Nice strategy.

 After Ken Prather, family lawyer (www.pratherfamilylaw.com), lost the jury case, he went to his insurance carrier to pay up.  They don't cover Ken's fraud.

 Here is a deposition from the Ken Prather  (www.pratherfamilylaw.com) case. The Plaintiff is told about Ken's (superlawyer) billing policy...my way or the highway...She isn't sure if Kenneth E. Prather, Sr.  is honest or not....she says she was overcharged....

Ken Prather (www.pratherfamilylaw.com) didn't have the $200,000 he needed for a bond. Times tight for Michigan's divorce advocate? Sure looks like it.  This superlawyer also didn't have any friends from Grosse Pointe or elsewhere to help him out by his  own sworn statement. Whatta guy!

Here is a case that senior citizen (DOB: 1933), family lawyer, Kenneth E. Prather, Sr. (www.pratherfamilylaw.com) would probably like to forget. An Oakland County jury awarded former client, Yasmin Vora, $167,000 and decided the now 70something, Ken was guilty of silent fraud. Years later, Kenny got it overturned on appeal but the jury of his peers decided that he defrauded the poor woman.  

After settling the divorce action plaintiff filed this action against defendant, Ken Prather of Grosse Point, alleging that

defendant’s innocent misrepresentation, legal malpractice, actual fraud, and silent fraud...

Ultimately, the trial court entered a judgment in this case awarding plaintiff $167,000 in damages on the silent fraud count.

The jury found that defendant (Kenneth E. Prather, Sr.) had committed legal malpractice...(edited) It also found that defendant had committed both actual and silent fraud, and listed damages of $167,000 as the award for each of these counts.

 A former client claims this senior (P19071) member of the bar said the following:

P1? Who got P19070? I think it was Stevens T. Mason -Look it up. I think we went to UofD too. 

Plaintiff argues that defendant’s (Ken Prather)constant assurances to plaintiff that there was

no need to worry was in fact a material misrepresentation. Specifically, plaintiff testified that

defendant informed her on several occasions that “she would win,” “not to worry” and that the

“agreement was enforceable.”
